Wasauksing Swing Bridge Rehabilitation

Bronte Construction was hired by the Government of Canada to rehabilitate the Wasauksing Swing Bridge in Parry Sound, Ontario.
This was an historically sensitive project involving a Federal Assessment and involvement with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada.
Project considerations included: structural, mechanical, electrical and heavy civil components. The bridge required improved reliability and operation, improved site safety considerations for maintenance staff, and safe passageway for vehicles. Reparations and reconstruction were required.
Scope of Work
- Emergency structural shoring repairs to the wood bridge structure.
- Fibreglass pile jackets to repair section loss on piles.
- Additional cross bracing, longitudinal braces, and concrete mud sills on west embankment.
